tech tip title II

Windows 10 has introduced a new applet for modifying your computer’s settings called simply Settings. In many ways, it’s an improvement over the old Control Panel.  But much like the subject of last week’s tip, Edge, it still has a ways to go before it can completely replace the Control Panel.

As with Edge, Microsoft has not yet removed the Control Panel from Windows 10. If you find yourself struggling to change a preference using Settings, or if the item you’re looking for just doesn’t exist in Settings, it’s easy to get to the Control Panel using one of these two methods:

  • Right click on the Start menu and go to Control Panel (it’s about two-thirds down the list that appears).
  • Open the Start Menu and start typing “control panel”.  Click the icon for the Control Panel that appears under “Best Match”.
