About a year ago, we started a weekly tradition at Master Computing. We decided that on Friday afternoons we would all take a short break from the IT world and go to lunch as a company. Needless to say, this was a very popular tradition right from the start. Who wouldn't like a free lunch once a week? At first we would all brainstorm about places we would like to go to eat and try to come up with a consensus. But as anyone knows that has tried to decide on a restaurant with a group, this proved to be a difficult task. "I don't care, where do you want to eat?" was repeated over and over. So we decided that we would take turns picking the restaurant. Now we go alphabetically through our team and whoever's turn it is gets to decide. The rest of us don't get a say. This has worked very well for the most part. But I'm not going to lie, there are some weeks that the choices are less than ideal for some of us. But it's more about team building and less about the food. (ya, right).
Usually the restaurants we go to are fairly close to us here in Denton. Our office is really close to the Denton Square, which has some really delicious, fun restaurants so we go there quite a bit. Sometimes we get adventurous and go as far as Roanoke to try a new restaurant. Today we chose to stay close to home and go to Mellow Mushroom just off the Square. We love Mellow Mushroom. They have super delicious pizzas. And their appetizers are fantastic. And the atmosphere is fun and unique. Today did not disappoint in any of those areas. We are back at the office now with happy tummies talking about where we can set up an office nap room. Maybe the next tradition we will institute will be a Friday Company Nap Time after Friday Company Lunch? I wish this could be a thing, but we are so busy taking care of our wonderful clients and making sure they have the best IT service possible, that I think the naps will have to wait until after business hours.
